I was wondering if anyone experienced blurry vision on Plaquenil. I have been on Plaquenil for about a month. Every now and then I notice some of the words on the television are blurry, then there are other times my eyes are fine. Check with your doctor right away if you have muscle weakness, pain, or tenderness while using this medicine. Hydroxychloroquine may cause some people to be agitated, irritable, or display other abnormal behaviors. It may also cause some people to have suicidal thoughts and tendencies, or to become more depressed. Hi bailey, I have been on Plaquenil for exactly 6 months now and just as you mentioned I am feeling better on it in so many ways. I made an appointment with my opthamologist for Tuesday, because I feel that my vision has also been getting blurry with the occasional floaters.

For example, it may be combined with an antibiotic to treat chronic Q-fever, which humans usually catch from farm animals or raw milk. Plaquenil is used to treat other types of infections too.

  4. And yes, your eye doctor should have noticed dry eyes if that was causing the problem. Another culprit might be cataracts, although double vision isn’t high on the list of symptoms, but you and I are of that age where they start to become common. A third thing that can cause vision problems is blood sugar.

This has been going on for awhile and I keep forgetting to tell my RA Doctor. Plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine is used to dampen inflammation in some forms of arthritis, especially rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Plaquenil is usually used for long term disease control, rather than in the short term to control active bursts of inflammation. Talk to your doctor if you are worried.
