    Plaquenil 6 months

I developed congestive heart failure and was taken off all RA meds except prednisone for a year. For years, I have been complaining to any of my doctors, who would listen, about the dizziness. I went back to my rheumatologist and he prescribed plaquenil again. In the beginning ( The first year or two) It really helped, with my symptoms, with lupus. This past two years, the dizziness has now, turned in to vertigo.

In some cases, higher doses can be used. It is recommended one tablet twice daily if taking more than one tablet. It is recommended to be taken with food. Symptoms can start to improve in one to two months, but it may take up to six months before the full benefits of this medication are experienced. Plaquenil is also used for long-term treatment of autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis RA and systemic lupus erythmatosis. According to the Mayo Clinic, it can take up to six months' constant use before an effect is seen in RA 1. Plaquenil is a slow-acting drug, meaning that it can take up to 6 months to experience the full benefits of this medication, but it is possible for symptoms to improve in as few as 1 or 2 months. Plaquenil and other antimalarials are the key to controlling lupus long-term, and some lupus patients may be on Plaquenil for the rest of their lives.

Now, that I have read this site, explanation of plaquenil, I think the mystery is solved. After taking it for 6 weeks, I had shortness of breath so I stopped taking it. Again, I have been trying to find out , what have been causing the vertigo.

I love plaquenil too and just hit the sixth month mark 400mg a day. It took about 3 months for me to notice anything, but seems to get better and better the longer I'm on it. Still getting the flares, but they don't seem to be as severe as they were now. About 3 to 4 hours. Renal clearance in rheumatoid arthritis RA patients taking PLAQUENIL for at least six months seemed to be similar to that of the single dose studies in volunteers, suggesting. The most conservative opinion would include exams every 6 months with repeat visual fields every 6 to 12 months. My general feeling is to perform annual exams with visual field testing. One study determined that the risk of retina toxicity when patients are taking less than 6.5 mg per kilograms per day is rare.

Plaquenil causing nausea lupus I had really bad nausea with the generic, so my doctor put me on the brand name and I honestly did not notice any difference. Now, I just try to be really careful and take it right after I eat a full meal not just a snack and make sure I drink enough water. It helps but I’m still throwing up every once in awhile from the nausea.
